The Wolf

Hunger Hot Spots
Exchanging thoughts with an old colleague last night. I thought he was taking two straight shifts again.
Israel’s a buddy from a while back. We go a long way in the regional network group. He was working as a reporter in Iloilo while I was doing my beats in Cagayan de Oro. We met up when I was assigned to the newsroom in Quezon City, by then he was already desk editing for regional news.
When I resigned from the network’s office in Cebu, he was the first person to call me up and offer me a slot in QC. But I declined since I was already on the boat home. He tried to convince me but to no avail. We would see and work with each other again when our boss (or my former boss by that time) called me up to pitch in for the election coverage in 2010.
Isra’s one passionate journalist. And his love for the craft is best expressed in how he goes about his job. It’s not easy checking up, sifting through stuff, and making stories on over a dozen bureaus (and almost a hundred reporters) spread from Luzon to Mindanao. But he makes it seem to easy.
