Linog!
- The following is an exchange between me and my brother earlier after an earthquake struck most of Central and Southern Philippines. My brother texted me as soon as they felt the quake in Cagayan de Oro.
- Abe: Kusog kaayo ang linog ya.. (There a strong earthquake older brother)
- Me: Oh? Diha karon lang? (Oh? There? Right now?)
- Abe: Oo, kusog, naa pa hantod karon.. (Yes, it's strong, up to now)
- Me: Hinay hinay mo. Asa sila Mama? (You be careful. Where's [Papa and] Mama?)
- Abe: Naa rami balay (We're at the house)
- Me: May na lang. Si Sorsor? (That's good to know. How about Sorene?)
- Abe: Office. Ninaug daw sila sa ilang office.. (Office. They went down from their office [when the earthquake struck]..)
- Minutes after this, reports came in from Reuters and the US Geological Survey that a Magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Central Visayas, causing quakes in and around Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Northern Mindanao and even the Caraga region.
- *Linog is the Cebuano word for earthquake.
