Carol Guzy: War and Innocence. 11″ x 14″. Inkjet print.

Trauma journalism is dangerous, emotionally challenging work that carries personal and professional risks. The Dart Society is a network of journalists who cover conflict, tragedy and social injustice throughout the world and who have a special understanding of the nature of emotional injury.  They provide direct, peer-to-peer outreach and support to journalists struggling with the impacts of covering trauma; publish an award-winning human-rights magazine, Dart Society Reports; and give an annual award, The Mimi, to print editors who demonstrate excellence in the management of trauma narratives.
On Thursday the Dart Society will hold its second benefit auction of photojournalism prints at 25CPW, honoring the work of Joel Simon of the Committee to Protect Journalists, photojournalist Lynsey Addario, and writer and documentarian Sebastian Junger. The event features an auction of some 50 photographs, including prints from the best photojournalists in the U.S., as well as books written by Dart Society journalists and other items.
